Aura & Unseen Energy Fields — The Kosha System

The Pancha Kosha System
Vedanta describes five sheaths (Koshas) surrounding the Atman (pure consciousness), from dense matter to pure awareness:
Annamaya Kosha — Physical Sheath
The gross physical body made of food (Anna). Visible to the naked eye; the densest sheath. What Kirlian photography shows at the outermost level.
Pranamaya Kosha — Vital / Bio-Field Sheath
The energy body carrying Prana (life force) through 72,000 Nadis (energy channels) and seven major Chakra vortices. Visible through Kirlian and PIP imaging.
Manomaya Kosha — Mental Sheath
The mental body — thoughts, emotions, and desires. Aura disruptions at this level manifest as psychological disturbances and eventually physical illness.
Vijnanamaya Kosha — Intellect Sheath
The discriminating intelligence — the capacity for higher understanding, ethical judgment, and spiritual discrimination.
Anandamaya Kosha — Bliss Sheath
The causal body — the subtlest sheath, closest to pure consciousness. Experienced as deep bliss in Samadhi meditation states.
Kirlian Photography
Kirlian photography captures the electromagnetic field around living matter by passing a high-frequency electrical current through the object and recording the resulting corona discharge on photographic film:
- Living organisms show a bright, extensive, coherent corona; stressed or diseased organisms show diminished or fragmented fields
- Phantom Leaf experiment — when part of a leaf is cut away, the Kirlian image still shows the complete leaf's energy field, suggesting that the bio-field template precedes the physical form
- Human fingertip Kirlian images change measurably with stress, illness, meditation, and Pranayama practice
- Kirlian images of healers' hands show dramatically expanded, intense corona patterns during healing sessions
PIP Aura Imaging
Polycontrast Interference Photography (PIP) developed by Dr Harry Oldfield maps variations in the photon density around the human body:
- PIP shows the human aura in real-time as a live colour-field around the body
- Healthy aura — balanced, symmetrical colours extending 15–30 cm from the body
- Disease, stress, and trauma create visible distortions, darkened patches, or energy depletion zones
- Effects of Pranayama, meditation, Reiki, and Mantra chanting are clearly visible as aura enhancement in PIP imaging

Food Energy & Microwave Effect
PIP imaging demonstrates a critical fact about food energy:
